What A Night!
It is about 5am as I am writing this. I am still thinking about what the Lord did last night in the service. Several of us led worship together and this time was so sweet. Then I spoke. Ahpay was my interpreter. This was challenging for us both, but God won and about 40 girls came forward to accept Jesus into their heart! Wow.
Then we moved into a time of prayer for the sick. God touched so many and I look forward to hearing the testimonies of healing. We already were hearing reports last night after the service.
The Lord’s presence was so strong and beautiful. These precious ones definitely were getting a fresh dose of the love of God their Father. Emily and Jada were great ministry teammates as we all flowed together. Thank you God for a powerful night with you!

Crash
This morning I was thinking, it has been 4 days since I’ve heard a telephone ring. All the girls here at the House of Grace went back school today for the first time since Christmas break, and it was SO quiet. I was sitting alone having a cup of Nescafe instant coffee, (the closest thing I can get to Starbucks here), and the only sound I heard was a very slight hum in the next room from a refrigerator. I was completely struck at how beautiful the silence was. I have had a few crash moments since leaving Minneapolis. I really have not had a moment to be alone and really feel the impact of mom’s leaving earth. (I have a hard time calling it death, knowing that right now she is more alive then she has even been.) But I am aware that this has to happen and it should happen. I wanted to be alone so desperately when sitting on the 18 hour plane ride. To pray and just be alone with the Lord. Flying in a metal tube at 500 miles an hour with 180 of your closest friends is not exactly conducive to this. Well I decided the bathroom was my only option. Most people were sleeping and I slipped into a bathroom and was in there probably 30 minutes. The Lord and I had a good talk and crashed into Him. The Dave Matthews Band had a hit song with that title a while back. I have been thinking of a different kind of crash. Crashing in to the embrace of God. I was reading in Proverbs 30:5 MSG the morning I left this verse. "Every promise of God proves true; he protects everyone who runs to him for help.” I have been envisioning myself running to my Father for help in this time of loss and trouble and actually crashing into His arms and allowing Him to protect me. It’s working for me.

The Faces
An image like this one sticks with me a very long time. It is impossible for us who are so blessed to live in America, to understand the everyday life of one of these beautiful families over here in Thailand. It is very hard and very rough.
94.6% of this country is Buddhist, with only 0.7% being Christian. I believe these beautiful girls at House of Grace will change their nation. There are receiving the highest education possible and already alumni are serving in very high levels of education and government. Jesus is our ONLY hope! |

Christmas Morning
Because this is the first full day we are all here, House of Grace waited until today to have Christmas morning. This morning at 5:30am, we were awakened to an experience I have never had before. All of a sudden there are a whole bunch of beautiful girls singing Christmas songs outside of our door. A moment I will never forget. It was in a language I did not understand, but the joy was very recognizable.
We all headed to the gym where all the kids got their Christmas stocking and gifts from their sponsors and also from us. Before I left Minneapolis, I sent Florence and Grace to get gifts for all the 112 girls here before I left. I was not sure about their choice, but it proved to be the perfect one. Makeup. All the girls and staff, got makeup from Celebration. The older ones got to choose between different eye shadow kits. The younger ones got to choose between different lip gloss kits. They went crazy and really loved the gifts.

New Years Eve
I asked the flight attendant what country our plane would be over when we brought in 2012. She thought we would be over Korea or Japan. It has been many a very long time since I have tackled a flight 18 hours long. Our family did missions work in Australia many years ago, and I remember a flight nearly that long. But I was MUCH younger then. Smile.
Emily and I introduced ourselves to a guy sitting across the aisle from us on this long flight. His name is Juan. A well dressed man from southern California about 45 years old. I casually asked him what he was going to Bangkok for. He quickly responded, “for girly boys.” We thought he was joking, but unfortunately he was not. He said he had been many times and that is the only reason he goes there.
Emily has taught me a lot about the sex trade industry in Thailand and how it all works. The bottom line is money. The people are so poor, that they sell their daughters for cash. Many of the girls in this beautiful House of Grace home for girls have been abused in the past and this place is their only hope for a life of freedom.
I will tell you more about this as the days go on.

Arrive in Thailand
We are here! A beautiful land with beautiful faces and smiles. My heart has already been grabbed by these precious ones. How does ones heart expand so quickly? LA to Bangkok was an 18 hour flight. I woke up in Minneapolis at 4am Friday morning, and as I write this it is 8:30pm Sunday…and I still have not actually been to sleep. Ok, maybe a little shut eye on the plane, but not much! I travelled from Los Angeles with House of Grace Coordinator of Thai Operations, Emily Leatherbarrow, and she did not get any at all. However, we have experienced God’s favor the entire journey. Even being able to take earlier flights with no extra fees. Thank you, Lord, for safe travels. Angels rock by the way! Ok, I want to write so much…but not as much as I want to sleep. Here are a few pictures to get started with. Goodnight!

Welcome Home!
There is no place like home! We had an amazing time on the bus the two hours before getting back to Celebration. Everyone shared their testimonies of what God did in their lives on this divine assignment. Now we are looking forward to pulling in and seeing our families! Will be fantastic! |

Refreshing @ IHOP!
We all agreed.. ending our RAK 2011 trip at International House of Prayer was a GREAT idea. Walking into the Prayer Room, where 24/7 prayer has been talking place for 12 years now, was so refreshing. We got there around 8:30pm and were there until midnight.

Pastor Jason St John of Evangel Temple In Kansas City was kind enough to allow us to stay there for the night. Most of us got up at 5 something, to leave to go back to the Prayer Room at 6am until we left at 10.
It was a late night unloading at about 1am. This trailer has served us well and this team has packing down to a science!

We had another flat tire, about an hour south of Des Moines. God is so good. Tim had 2 spare tires, and we have used them both. Smile.

Timing worked out great. Everyone was hungry so off to Taco Bell we went while they got the tire changed.

Impromptu Blessing
Paige is originally from Wichita Kansas, and when she realized we were going to be driving through there, we knew we had to make a stop and see her family. Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle and Aunt and cousins were all there to meet us. These are such great people. Now I know why Heath and Terese love going home to Kansas so much!

Brent had our swing team do an impromptu performance right there at the travel plaza in front of McDonalds. It was so fun to see the smiles on everyone’s faces. This swing team rocks!

Sightseeing in LA!
Ruben, Claudia and their family took us to Hollywood. To see the sign, Hollywood Blvd, the Kodak theatre, Hollywood Bowl, the Chinese theatre, etc. This is the first time to Calfornia and LA for many of these students, so it was great to see their faces when they saw these landmarks.

This is Michael Jackson’s star on Hollywood Blvd. There were people actually kneeling and praying at this site. I prayed to myself, “Lord, open the eyes of these precious people. So they see you and will worship you alone as the King of Kings!”

The Will of God (Obra de Dios)
From the very first moment we arrived, we fell in love with the Pastors and people of Obra de Dios.

So kind, open and loving. I could feel God was going to do some great things here. Josiah has known these Pastors and love them dearly. He said, “It feels like I am going home to family today.”
We all dug in our suitcases to get changed and ready for the service.

When I was in prayer on the bus before the service, the Holy Spirit gave me a picture and message for someone specific. As I was praying, I saw a young man in a bright blue dress shirt…on my right about half way back.
Josiah and I kind of tag teamed today….preaching and altar time. When I stood on the platform to preach, I looked to my right, and I saw exactly what I saw in my spirit on the bus. I called this gentleman up to the front. His name is Cesar.

I told him the Lord had a something very specific for him today. I told him the Lord was calling him into the ministry of sharing this great Gospel, and if he is willing, God will use his life greatly in ministry. I told him a lot of other things, but this was the short version.
He began to cry and I asked him to share at the end what he was feeling and what God was speaking to his heart. On the mic he shared that he had been feeling God’s call on his life. That he had just been in to meet with the Pastor there last Thursday discussing this. (the Pastor confirmed all of this to me privately later.) He said, “I told the Lord I want confirmation of this call. Someone I don’t know to tell me this is from you.”
He said he felt called to be an evangelist. I laid hands on him and we all prayed God would fill him with a heart for the lost and the heart of Jesus. Wow! God you are so good.
There were 34 decisions for Christ, and then a long, beautiful time of prayer, healing and simply more of God.

Josiah’s family here in CA is Ruben and Claudia Lopez and their chidren. We fell in love with them too. Here they are praying for Josiah.

We enjoyed an amazing authentic Mexican dinner right after we packed up our gear.

Day Off!
Our gang enjoyed a great day off yesterday at Pismo Beach. We all really needed this day to just chill and enjoy the California sun. Watching these guys have fun, was the fun for Brent and I. What a fantastic group of young people!! Couldn’t love them more.

Paige decided to take a surfboarding lesson and did just great!

Brent found his favorite rocky road ice cream within minutes of landing!
